Why winter makes everything worse
Agadir has mild winters, but a villa closed from November to March accumulates risks: November–December rain on an untreated pool, humidity in sealed rooms, and attention from passers-by on a quiet street. The real problem is not a single event — it is the lack of detection: nothing gets flagged until it is expensive to repair.
The checklist before you leave
Inside
- Shut off water at the meter and drain the circuit if you are away for more than a month.
- Leave cupboard doors ajar and one window on each facade in purge mode (with a screen or grille) to limit condensation.
- Unplug the water heater and non-essential appliances.
- Remove perishable food; seal the rest in boxes.
- Treat the drains (a little oil or salt) to prevent smells.
Outside
- Pool: check pH and level, put the filtration on a timer. A green pool after 3 months costs far more to recover than a weekly visit.
- Automatic watering on a timer; purge blocked drippers.
- Half-closed shutters: a house that looks lived-in attracts fewer looks.
- Put away pool furniture and anything visible from the street.
Papers and contacts
- Give a copy of the guarding contract to a local contact.
- Leave instructions for the neighbours on site.
What documented visits are for
Our on-demand cleaning visits (housekeeper at If something is wrong, you get the photo the same day — not the bill six months later.
While you are away
- Villa guarding: a regular agent, patrols, mail collected. The price depends on patrol frequency and perimeter.
- Cleaning visits: ideal between stays; the house stays “ready to live in”.
- Combined package: guarding + documented monthly cleaning — the format most requested by owners living outside Morocco.
